Community Practice

Community Circles

We facilitate community circles for groups with varying needs and goals, such as:

  • offering check-in and support for community facilitators,
  • processing space for community members in the aftermath of difficult or harmful events,
  • building a stronger sense of community amongst members, and
  • repairing harm.

If your group is interested in starting a circle, send us a message.

Storytelling

Truth-telling is a core part of restorative justice, whether in smaller scale repair harm work or large-scale truth and reconciliation processes. But community storytelling, even outside a harm repair, reconciliation, or reparation effort, also achieves restorative justice goals. Storytelling, especially among communities whose voices are suppressed, can empower people and fuel needed change.  To be kept up to date on our storytelling events, please join our mailing list.

Collaborative Community Care

We are excited to be co-creating and developing models of community care with partners around South Carolina. In the spirit of one million experiments, this initiative emphasizes empowering communities to transform systems of harm by regaining essential skills, such as repair harm, street medic, violence interruption, and bystander support skills. This work is inherently collaborative and experimental. Our first community care workshop was held in Conway, SC, in November 2023, and we are continuing to develop new modes of implementation and information sharing with our partners. Stay tuned for more and join our mailing list to be kept up to date!
