Seeking Systems-Impacted & Student Story Tellers

SCRJI is excited to be working with partners to implement our Bridging Worlds: Narratives of Law, Justice, and Connection storytelling initiative.

This initiative brings graduate and law students at the University of South Carolina together with systems-impacted community members, including formerly incarcerated individuals and the friends and family members of currently incarcerated persons, to develop and share powerful personal narratives. The initiative will run bi-weekly workshops from January to April 2025, alternating between in-person and online formats, and culminates in a public storytelling showcase in Columbia.

Stories do not need to be about specific experiences, but they should broadly relate to themes of law or justice in the context of the criminal system or carceral institutions. No prior experience storytelling is necessary.
